How do OHIP cut-off dates work in Ontario?
The Ministry of Health processes claims on a monthly cycle. To ensure your claims are included in the Remittance Advice (RA), submit them by the 18th of each month. If the 18th falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, the deadline automatically moves to the next business day.
Claims submitted after the 18th may not be processed until the following cycle. For example, claims received on November 18 will appear on the December RA, while submissions sent after November 18 may not appear until the January RA.

Holiday and After-Hours Billing Schedule 2025
The Ministry has released special billing rules for the upcoming holiday season. Eligible emergency department–equivalent codes A888/Q888 can be billed from December 25–31, 2025, and January 1, 2026. As no holidays fall on weekends this year, no additional days qualify.
The premium code Q012 remains eligible only on December 25, December 26, and January 1. While Q012 can still be used during regular after-hours periods, it does not apply to all A888/Q888 services, and standard billing requirements continue to apply.
