DoctorCare’s team has been receiving inquiries regarding how to bill appropriately for influenza shots. This is a quick reminder on the visit types and associated billing codes to use.
For this flu season, the below codes outlined should be used for doctors under a FHO, FHN or FHG model.
Billing codes for flu shot (FHO and FHN):
*Q590 can be billed for a patient regardless if they are enrolled or not.
Billing codes for flu shot (FHG):
*Eligibility of the Cumulative Preventive Care Bonuses is based on a physician’s roster size on March 31st of the current bonus year. In each bonus year, a physician must have a minimum roster size of 650 enrolled patients on March 31st of the fiscal year claimed.
